Video guided tours of the 20th Century. Continuities and Ruptures exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art and Jasmina Cibic: The Foundation of Endeavour and Lewis Trondheim and Drunk Bunnies at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova.
The event is a prologue of the coming issue of L’Internationale Online, confronting the two seemingly incompatible terms Degrowth and Progress. A conversation between artist Monica Narula and curator Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez will follow the thread of these ambiguous notions inspecting institutional cultural landscape to reveal several issues raised in their practice addressing political movements such as distribution and wealth, struggles for the commons, feminisms, ecology and sustainability.
On every summer Thursday in July and August, the Museum of Modern Art plus Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova will be open for public till 8 p.m. You are cordially invited to join us in our summer special from 6 to 8 p.m.
An experimental essay and collaboration with the artist Nika von Ham, published as the last chapter of Zdenka Badovinac’s Comradeship: Curating, Art, and Politics in Post-Socialist Europe, “My Post-Catastrophic Glossary” is written as a semi-fictional glossary.
The Glossary of Common Knowledge is a project of the European confederation of museums L’Internationale initiated by Moderna galerija in 2014 and organised cross-sectionally from working seminars and public conferences. The goal of the project is to compile a glossary of art terminology that differs substantially from what is found in the existing literature on art. For safety reasons related to the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 the seminar will take place online.
The Summer Museum Night taking place every third Saturday in June, is the largest national promotional campaign for Slovenian museums and galleries. We invite you to visit our current exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, a conversation with Jošt Franko as part of his solo exhibition of the Draught Series, a performance by Boštjan Čadež and Tatiana Kocmur as part of the Lighting Guerrilla. Both bookstores are preparing a special discount, while Kavarna Moderna and Kantina +MSUM are preparing a musical programme. We also invite you to view the guided tours and the exhibition online.
Quintessence is an audio-visual performance that combines the intermedia practice of Boštjan Čadež with the performative body of Tatiana Kocmur. The body of the performer is covered with LED lights that respond to her movement: her moves are captured by the sensors as picture and sound. Her choreography thus creates an animated image that is supported by a video projection.
During our work from home, Moderna galerija is presenting ARTEMIC – a series of thoughts, views and impressions about selected works from the Moderna galerija collections that MG staff will share with you.
"Plagues are like imponderable dangers that surprise people. They seem to have a quality of destiny. What I find curious is that the great plagues have always produced great excesses. They make people want to live more. It's that almost metaphysical dimension that interests me."
